2022 FCC Farmland Values Report
The latest FCC Farmland Values report is out and the Saskatchewan numbers are shocking!
Farmland values went up an average of 12.8% across Canada in 2022.
Saskatchewan farmland values went up 14.2% in comparison. This is almost double the increase of 7.4% in 2021.
Increases varied greatly from region to region with the North East coming in at 24.2% higher than the previous year!! Good weather conditions, and high profitability in much of the North East Region contributed to these huge gains in land values.

What will we see in 2023?
I should start this conversation by stating that I do not have a crystal ball, and history has shown us that anything can happen. That being said I do have some predictions.
Rising interest rates, lower grain prices, and higher input costs will certainly slow the rate of the increase of Saskatchewan farmland values in 2023. That being said I feel the profitability of the past years, coupled with very low inventory, should keep farmland values rising at a reasonable rate. If there are no radical changes in the market I would guess that Saskatchewan farmland values will increase less in 2023 than they did in 2022.
If you are thinking of buying farmland, you will certainly need to have an expert Realtor on your side to achieve success, as the market will continue to be challenging for Buyers to find what they are looking for.
