Hot weather advanced crops, but storms and humidity slowed harvest. Provincial progress is 12%, behind the five- and 10-year averages. The southwest leads at 23%, followed by the southeast (14%) and east-central (11%). West-central is 6%, northeast 3%, and northwest 2%.
Winter cereals and pulses dominate harvest. 70% of winter wheat, 66% of fall rye, 45% of peas, and 35% of lentils are combined. Spring crops are starting with triticale at 42%, barley 17%, and durum 13%.
Rainfall was scattered, heaviest at Nipawin (42 mm), North Battleford (30 mm), and Consul (28 mm). Cropland moisture is 3% surplus, 77% adequate, 18% short, and 2% very short. Pastures are mostly fair to good.
Crop damage was light, mainly from bertha armyworms, with grasshoppers, hail, and wind also reported.
