Harvest is underway, but the province needs rain

| We are two per cent harvested provincially, which is behind the five year average but ahead of last year. Cooler weather this week slowed things down but also took some stress off crops that have been dealing with hot, dry conditions.
Moisture is the story right now. Most of the province is sitting short, with 43 per cent of cropland rated short and another 8 per cent very short. The scattered showers helped in spots but it was not enough. More rain would be welcome, especially for later seeded crops still in the grain filling stage.
