Region-by-Region Seeding Snapshot

Saskatchewan Crop Report – May 1–7, 2025

Seeding progress is off to a slower-than-usual start across Saskatchewan this year. Most regions remain well behind the five-year average, with wet soils delaying activity in many areas.

South West: Leading with 56% field peas, 32% spring wheat, 44% lentils seeded.

West Central: Moderate start with 28% field peas, 21% lentils, 12% wheat.

North West: 27% field peas and 27% spring wheat; low topsoil moisture (53%).

North East: Slower progress, under 16% seeded for most crops, despite 77% moisture.

East Central: Lentils 20%, field peas 17%; progress is steady.

South East: Most moisture-rich region (87%) but slowest canola and wheat start.

Moisture levels are promising, but pace is slow. Another week of rain may further delay progress.
