Saskatchewan Crop Report August 15 – 21, 2023
Saskatchewan Crop Report August 15 – 21, 2023
I spent some time on the road this week working on listings in the southern part of the province. The day I was on the road we had highs of 18 and light rain around Saskatoon but when I arrived down south it was 29C and sunny! Tomorrow I head to North East SK where harvest has only begun. It is amazing to see the variance in weather, harvest progress and farming practices in the different areas of Saskatchewan. The only way to truly appreciate this is to get on the road and drive long distances! Producers continued to make progress harvesting their crops this week. Scattered rain helped with moisture levels as systems moved through the province. Saskatchewan is now 21 per cent completed harvest, ahead of the five-year average of 14 per cent and the 10-year average of 11 per cent. The southwest continues to lead the province in harvest progress, with 38 per cent of the crop harvested. This is followed by the west-central, which has 27 per cent harvested so far. The northwest has received moisture these past few weeks and as a result only four per cent completed harvest. For the complete report click on the link below. Check out this week’s videos: |
