| Harvest jumped to 18 per cent complete this week, up 7 per cent from last week. We are still well behind the five year average of 39 per cent, but producers are optimistic and making the most of every good day.
The week started dry and then significant rain moved through later, which improved moisture considerably. Cropland rated adequate jumped to 64 per cent. Lentils and field peas are moving along well at 73 and 66 per cent harvested respectively, and winter cereals are nearly done.
Yields are variable across the province, which is not surprising given the kind of growing season we had. Some areas are doing well, others have taken a hit.
Producers are combining where they can and already starting to think about fall fieldwork. Harvest is not over yet, but the end is in sight.
