Saskatchewan Crop Report – Sept 18

🌾 Saskatchewan Crop Report

Harvest is 53% complete, up 12% from last week but still behind the five-year average of 73%. The southwest leads at 66%, followed by the southeast (58%), west-central and northwest (47%), east-central (46%), and northeast (42%).

Winter cereals are finished. Peas 96%, lentils 91%, barley 72%, durum 66%, spring wheat 56%, and oats 52% are off. Oilseeds are slower—mustard 41%, canola 21%, flax 6%, soybeans 13%.

Heavy rain hit some areas, with Kipling (100 mm) the highest. Soil moisture improved, but more rain will be needed post-harvest to restore reserves.

Crop damage came from wind, wildlife, waterfowl, frost, hail, and grasshoppers.
