Newsletter: Farm Land Values Report 2023

The FCC Farmland Values Report is an important document to everyone in the industry. It is a great overview of where farmland values are at within Saskatchewan, and around the country.

Values rose at record levels for the province as a whole! North East, and East Central, saw the biggest gains. The bigger gains follow the biggest profits, which lately has been where there is good moisture.

For over 10 years I have been saying that I felt North East and East Central areas would gain more value than other areas if this weather pattern continues. The weather has continued and we are now seeing first hand a migration of farmland values from West to East.

If someone would have said 5 years ago that North East Saskatchewan would hold some of the highest valued land in the province they would have been laughed out of the room. This area has historically been plagued by weather that was too cold and too wet, the dryer trend has made conditions here perfect (at least for now).  FCC has shown us that the wealth is transferring from West to East while following profitability.

You have heard me talk about pasture land being undervalued and that it should be taking a run up sometime soon. This report has shown that this is now happening. With all time record setting cattle prices I expect to watch this trend continue into 2024.
