Agricultural Crown Land Sale Program
The Agricultural Crown Land Sale Program is an incentive program to encourage the sale of occupied agricultural Crown land.
1. Overview
The 2015 Agricultural Crown Land Sale Program provides an opportunity for farmers and ranchers who are leasing the land to purchase it and realize the benefits of ownership. The program comes into effect immediately and offers purchase incentives on the sale of the land to current lease-holders.
- Phase one: a 15 per cent purchase incentive will be applied to all sales where applications are received from November 4, 2015 to March 31, 2016
- Phase two: a 10 per cent purchase incentive will be applied to all sales where applications are received from April 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016
- Phase three: a five per cent purchase incentive will be applied to all sales where applications are received from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017
2. Eligibility
Before any land is sold, an assessment will be done on public value. All agricultural Crown land including grazing, hay and cultivated, that is deemed to have no public or low environment benefit will be eligible for the program.
Land that has heritage value, serves as important wildlife habitat, has potential for oil and gas development or has sand and gravel deposits will not be sold.
Land that is designated as having high ecological value under The Wildlife Habitat Protection Act (WHPA) is not eligible for sale and discounts will not be applied to WHPA land classified as having moderate ecological value.
Lands classified as low ecological value are eligible for the incentive program.
Sales associated with public tenders and Treaty Land Entitlement are not eligible for the program. Any parcel of land that has previously been determined as ineligible for purchase will remain ineligible. Click link to finish reading this article.
